City Council approves Forest Street overlay district for mixed-use development

Marlborough City Council approves Forest Street mixed-use overlay district. The council unanimously adopted a zoning amendment creating the Forest Street Residential Overlay District, enabling up to 90 residential units along with retail and commercial space on approximately 31 acres at the corner of Ames and Forest Streets. The council unanimously approved three state grants totaling $548,000 for IT upgrades at the Building Department, body-worn cameras for police, and HVAC improvements at fire and police facilities.
The council also adopted a comprehensive non-union salary ordinance restructuring pay grades for 22 positions effective July 1, 2026, and approved budget transfers and funding allocations totaling $1.48 million.
