MARLBOROUGH — City Council denies 90-unit housing project at Ames and Forest. The Marlborough/Northborough Land Trust's proposal received seven votes in favor but fell one short of the required eight, with Councilors Robert Preciado and Sean A. Navin opposed and two members absent.
The Council determined that 90 units would exacerbate traffic conditions and strain emergency response and schools in an already-congested multifamily area. The Council unanimously approved two utility infrastructure projects, established new City Solicitor and Assistant Fire Chief positions with salaries of $175,000 and $165,000-$186,700 respectively effective July 1, 2026, and transferred $957,524 to the Marlborough Economic Development Commission.
