Conservation Commission pursues stricter local wetlands protection

MARLBOROUGH — Conservation Commission votes to pursue stricter local wetlands ordinance. The Marlborough panel, with John Skarin as Acting-Chair, unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and heard a proposal from Connorstone Engineering for a 3,000-square-foot house at 6 Quinn Rd. that will be set back from wetlands by existing easements marked with 30-foot buffer zones. A second hearing on storage sheds at 36 Westboro Rd. was continued to May 7 due to the applicant's absence.
The Commission agreed to pursue a local wetlands protection ordinance stricter than state law, modeled on examples in Hudson and elsewhere, and asked Conservation Officer Priscilla Ryder to draft the ordinance for review before presenting it to the Mayor and City Council.
