Council committee advances Chapapas outdoor seating license to solicitor
MARLBOROUGH — August 25, 2025 — Marlborough committee advances outdoor seating license for Chapapas Restaurant on Main Street. The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee voted 2-0 on Aug. 25 to send a license and indemnification for 203-205 Main St. to the city solicitor for redrafting in line with the recently approved Lost Shoe Brewing agreement. Owner Saul Eduardo Carvajal told the committee he wants a small railed patio of no more than four tables with three chairs each, operating roughly 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with no alcohol or outdoor music. "I want to send it more to the children and families," Carvajal said. Vice Chair Laura Wagner Roby, who chaired the committee when the property received a similar license in 2017, moved approval with a one-year renewable term and an explicit no-alcohol-outside condition. Chair Samantha Perlman seconded. Councilors Laura Wojcik and Michael Ossing urged consistency across downtown patios.
