Legal and Legislative Committee approves five-year parking license at 56 Emmett Street
MARLBOROUGH — September 20, 2021 — Marlborough committee grants five-year parking license to new owners of 56 Emmett Street. The Legal and Legislative Committee voted unanimously to approve Order 21-108394, transferring and extending a license — first issued in 2003 and previously renewed in one- and three-year increments — that lets the homeowners park on adjacent city property. Councilor Landers, who moved approval, cited the original conditions barring vehicles from being parked "so as to impede snow removal operations." Councilor Doucette, who said he visited the site before the meeting, called it "a great benefit that the city provides to someone in a real tight situation." Councilor Robey, who grew up on the block, pressed a city engineer on plowing; the engineer said crews plow only the roadway and leave the licensed area to the licensee. The committee also directed the city solicitor to draft the license in final form.
