Marlborough Warns Of West Nile Virus, Plans Mosquito Spraying
MARLBOROUGH — The city's Board of Health confirmed Tuesday that West Nile virus has been detected in mosquito samples collected in Marlborough, prompting the state to schedule designated-area spraying, while Mayor J. Christian Dumais announced George Larassa as grand marshal of the 2026 Labor Day Parade.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health notified the city that West Nile virus turned up in mosquito samples collected in Marlborough, according to a Board of Health public notice posted this week. The city said the state will conduct designated-area spraying in response, and a separate public notice reiterated the finding to residents.
Separately, Mayor Dumais announced that George Larassa has been selected as grand marshal for the 2026 Labor Day Parade, set for Monday, September 7. The mayor's office called the selection an honor recognizing Larassa's standing in the community.
