Urban Affairs Committee · Meeting of September 29, 2026

MARLBOROUGH — The Marlborough Urban Affairs Committee voted 5-0 to recommend approval of a special permit for four townhouse units at 36 Jefferson Street, bringing the site to five units and 18 parking spaces. Attorney Brian Falk represented applicant 36 Jefferson Street LLC and owner Raimondo Netto; the committee added a condition requiring the dumpster be covered, screened and emptied only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. before sending the decision to the city solicitor for final wording. The committee then spent more than an hour on a Seven Brew drive-through coffee shop proposed for 2 Mount Royal Avenue by Boston Bruins LLC, debating a 60-day police-detail condition borrowed from the city's first marijuana-dispensary permit.

Councilor Navin warned the chain's monthly giveaways would generate "a hundred percent" new traffic into the adjacent office park, and the item was held in committee without a vote.
