Urban Affairs recommends Cal Verde marijuana permit with three-year operating deadline

MARLBOROUGH — May 11, 2021 — Urban Affairs advances Cal Verde dispensary permit, opens 120-acre rezoning debate. The Urban Affairs Subcommittee voted 5-0 to recommend a special permit for Cal Verde Naturals at 239 Boston Post Road West, extending operating hours to match Garden Remedies (9 a.m.–10 p.m. weekdays and Saturday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Sunday) and adding a 60-day police-detail requirement and a three-year deadline to commence operations. Councilor Mark Oram Doucette pushed the operational deadline, citing one previously approved Marlborough license that has failed: "I just want to make sure that we don't lose another license." Attorney Mark Donahue accepted the conditions and said Cal Verde holds a provisional Cannabis Control Commission license. The committee then opened deliberations on Greatland Realty Partners' petition to extend the Results Way Mixed Use Overlay District over the 120-acre Campus at Marlborough, with Fire Chief Kevin Breen endorsing a special-permit approach to hazardous-chemical biomanufacturing as "an appropriate compromise." The rezoning returns May 25.
