West Nile Virus Found In Marlborough Mosquito Samples

DATELINE — MARLBOROUGH

Massachusetts health officials have detected West Nile virus in mosquitoes collected in Marlborough, prompting a Board of Health advisory as the city moves through the height of summer mosquito season.

TOWN HALL

The Marlborough Board of Health issued a public notice saying the Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed West Nile virus in mosquitoes collected within the city. The notice urges residents to reduce standing water around their homes, use insect repellent, and limit outdoor activity during dawn and dusk hours when mosquitoes are most active.

Separately, the city posted an updated public notice on Marlborough's Community Choice Power Supply Program, covering the August 2026 through January 2027 supply period, an update to Mayor J. Christian Dumais's office's earlier confirmation that the discounted electricity rate runs into next year. The city also posted a legal notice regarding the renewal of Marlborough's cable license with Comcast.

SCHOOLS

Marlborough Public Schools is asking families to begin registration for the 2026-2027 school year, directing parents to the district's required forms and documentation ahead of the fall term. The district's website also continues to point families to its 2026 summer programs and updates on the Richer Building Project.
