Finance Committee unanimously backs 10-year Cytiva TIF at Results Way
MARLBOROUGH — October 28, 2024 — Marlborough Finance Committee backs 10-year TIF for Cytiva's $25 million expansion at Results Way. The panel voted 5-0 to recommend the tax increment financing agreement, which covers a 50,000-square-foot lab and training buildout in the former Whole Foods space and runs from FY2026 through FY2035. MEDC Executive Director Meredith Harris said the project will generate about $9 million in new assessed value and roughly $175,000 in additional annual taxes, against a TIF discount estimated at $1 million over 10 years. Cytiva's Colleen Conley said the company will relocate 23 employees from its Lock Drive site and bring 108 more from other Massachusetts locations, plus 3,000 to 5,000 annual visitors. Mayor J. Christian Dumas told the committee "Marlborough does this well and does it right." Councilor Kathleen Robey forced a wording change after objecting that the agreement misleadingly described the 131 relocated positions as "new full-time jobs open to qualified residents of Marlborough."
