Legislative committee backs Mosher Lane land deal, Route 20 welcome sign easement

MARLBOROUGH — June 10, 2024 — Marlborough committee advances Mosher Lane land transfer and new Route 20 welcome sign. The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee voted 3-0 Monday to recommend the City Council accept a deed in lieu of foreclosure from Avidia Bank for roughly 16 acres off Mosher Lane, forgiving about $45,000 in back taxes to clear a decade-old title problem from the Forest Trail subdivision. City Solicitor Matt Aroniss called it the "most inexpensive and cleanest" path, with three parcels heading to the Conservation Commission. The committee, chaired by Councilor Laura Brown with Vice Chair Sean Roby and member Laura Fucillo, also voted 3-0 to recommend accepting an easement at Hayes Memorial Drive and Route 20 from the owners of 1000 Nickerson Road, where a $22,500 fiscal 2024 state earmark has already paid for a sign matching those at the Hudson and Southborough lines.
