Marlborough committee approves rail spur conveyance to MEDC
MARLBOROUGH — May 1, 2023 — Marlborough committee advances 9,387-square-foot rail spur conveyance to MEDC. The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee voted 3-0 on May 1 to recommend the City Council approve Order 23-108869, transferring a former MBTA rail spur off Lincoln Street to the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation to complete land assembly for the Lincoln and Mechanic Street mixed-use development. City Solicitor Jason D. Grossfield told members the MBTA released its 1997 deed restrictions in exchange for open space provisions "satisfied by having the rail parking and the retro parking in the amenity building." Councilor Kathleen Robey, who moved approval, said the conveyance "was something that we were anticipating getting" since the earlier land swap agreement. The committee also asked the full council to suspend its rules and take up the order the same night.
