Marlborough council approves $1.07 million transfer for parks bond payments

MARLBOROUGH — November 18, 2024 — Marlborough council moves $1.07 million in meals tax revenue to parks bond payments. The City Council voted 10-0 Monday to approve the $1,075,694 transfer requested by the mayor to cover fiscal 2025 bond payments on parks and recreation improvements, with Ward 5 Councilor John J. Irish moving the motion. The same meeting cleared a $60,000 state public safety grant for enhanced traffic enforcement by the police department and approved two utility pole petitions tied to new EV charging stations at 57 Main Street and 910 Boston Post Road East, both with conditions from City Engineer Thomas DiPersio. Ward 6 Councilor A. Trey Fuccillo, calling it "exciting to see EV stations popping up across the Commonwealth," also won a postponement of a related Bigelow Street underground conduit petition to Dec. 2. The council referred a Garden Remedies Inc. relocation request and a 1 Maple Terrace zoning map amendment to Urban Affairs for Dec. 16 hearings, and accepted on file the temporary appointment of Michaela Spagon as comptroller treasurer through Jan. 14.
