Marlborough council approves $858,941 to rebuild Ferrell wading pool

MARLBOROUGH — October 21, 2024 — Marlborough council approves $858,941 to rebuild Ferrell wading pool on 9-2 vote. Ward 3 Councilor Robert Preciado moved the undesignated-fund transfer, telling colleagues "another two weeks would not hurt this" but urging dissenters to vote their conscience. At-Large Councilor Kathleen D. Robey and Ward 6 Councilor A. Trey Fuccillo opposed, citing the absence of a parallel plan for the Ward Park pool, originally packaged with Ferrell in a roughly $1 million bond proposal. Council President Michael H. Ossing said Commissioner Theodore L. Scott has committed to a six-month build aimed at the 2025 season. Earlier, councilors voted 11-0 to grant Ambidextrous Ventures LLC a special permit for a six-court indoor pickleball facility with 76 parking spaces at 119 Airport Boulevard, subject to 16 conditions including a 5:30 a.m. to midnight operating cap.
