Marlborough Personnel Committee Approves Board of Health Doctor 3-0
MARLBOROUGH — May 18, 2026 — Marlborough Personnel Committee unanimously approves infectious disease specialist for Board of Health. The three-member panel voted 3-0 on May 18 to recommend Dr. Sandeep Jubal, an infectious disease physician at UMass Memorial Medical Center, for a seat on the Marlborough Board of Health under Order No. 26-1009728. The three-year term expires February 5, 2029. Mayor Christian Dumas's letter, read into the record by committee chair, cited Dr. Jubal's nearly 26 years of medical practice, his service on the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, and his prior residency in Marlborough as qualifications. Councilor Doucette and Councilor Navin asked brief questions before moving to approve; Councilor Navin said he appreciated Dr. Jubal's willingness to serve "even though you're no longer a resident." The committee also suspended its rules to allow the full City Council to vote on the appointment the same evening, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Jim Griffin, who has chaired the board since 2013.
