Personnel Committee approves assistant fire chief job description, 3-0

MARLBOROUGH — April 13, 2026 — Marlborough Personnel Committee clears revised assistant fire chief job description 3-0. Mayor Christian Dumas told the committee in an April 2 letter that the update aligns with Collins Center study recommendations and that the role was prioritized "to ensure we are using the most current and accurate version available" so hiring could proceed. Appearing in person, Dumas said the changes were minimal and "probably more formatting issues." Members added language clarifying that the position reports to the fire chief, after the chair noted the "supervision received" section named no supervising position, and flagged a scrivener's error on page one — a bullet with no accompanying text. Dumas confirmed the department will have two assistant fire chiefs, either of whom the chief may designate to act in his stead. The committee adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
