Marlborough Personnel Committee staggers License Board terms in 2-1 votes

MARLBOROUGH — June 14, 2021 — Marlborough Personnel Committee staggers License Board terms in split votes. The three-member panel voted 2-1 on June 14 to appoint Mary Jo Naraki to the License Board for a two-year term expiring June 1, 2022, and 2-1 to reappoint chair Gregory Matrakas through June 1, 2024, and David Bouvier through June 1, 2026 — a staggered structure recommended by City Solicitor Grosfield. Councilor Anders opposed both, saying he preferred to let 30-year incumbent Walter Bonin finish his term and citing concerns that Matrakas, an attorney in the city, "has to excuse himself" from board matters. The committee then voted 3-0 to reappoint Conservation Commission members Alan F. White, Karen Packin and John Sgarzi, and 3-0 to reappoint Parks and Recreation Commissioners Case, Doherty and Vitel to terms expiring April 2, 2024. White said he has served the Conservation Commission for more than 40 years.
