Marlborough School Committee adopts FY22 goals, ratifies administrators' contract

MARLBOROUGH — September 14, 2021 — Marlborough School Committee adopts FY22 goals and honors its art supervisor as fully in-person learning returns. Superintendent Michael Bergeron reported 20 COVID-19 cases in the schools as of Sept. 14, unchanged from a week earlier, with the citywide seven-day positivity rate at 3.14 percent; a Sept. 9–10 Bouvier Pharmacy clinic at Whitcomb and the high school vaccinated 18 students, and 66 percent of most secondary grades are fully vaccinated. The committee suspended its rules to adopt Bergeron's FY22 goals immediately, citing the "cascading effect" on building plans, and later accepted his evaluation. Supervisor of Visual Arts Julie Baker was recognized as the Massachusetts Art Education Association's 2022 Supervisor/Administrator of the Year for "outstanding leadership and advocacy in the arts." Members accepted a $6,290 Valenti family gift of 37 violins, three violas and four keyboards for the music program, plus FY22 federal grants exceeding $1.4 million.
