Marlborough School Committee adopts unified district instructional road map

MARLBOROUGH — June 11, 2024 — Marlborough sets 60 percent NWEA growth target as unifying district goal. Superintendent Mary Murphy told the School Committee on June 11 that every school improvement plan now shares one academic goal — getting at least 60 percent of K-10 students to meet or exceed projected growth on the spring 2025 NWEA assessments — supported by six district English learner strategies and a common instructional "road map" launching at an August leadership retreat. Assistant Superintendent Liz O'Brien reported the district scored 49 percent favorable on the DESE VOCAL climate survey against a 50 percent state average, with safety lagging at 46 percent. Principal Daniel Riley said the high school is studying Yondr pouches but called them "very, very expensive." Of the Class of 2024, 48 percent are headed to four-year colleges and 30 percent to work, gap years or other plans. The committee unanimously approved relettering changes to policy sections B, C and D.
