Urban Affairs approves Green Gold medical use and hours, sends signs back to building department

MARLBOROUGH — July 31, 2023 — Urban Affairs clears Green Gold for medical marijuana and longer hours but strips lit-sign request. The City Council committee voted 5-0 July 31 to recommend an amended special permit for Green Gold Group's dispensary at 910 Boston Post Road East, authorizing medical sales and hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Attorney James McMahon told members the medical license brings a 40 percent monthly patient discount, hardship pricing for MassHealth and Social Security recipients, and access to 25- and 50-milligram edibles above the 5-milligram recreational cap. The committee removed the applicant's request for three internally illuminated signs after Councilor Scott Doucette said he needed to "draw the line" on Wayside District signage; Councilor Laura Wagner said the ordinance was starting to feel "less equitable to single out this business." Green Gold must now route its sign package through the building department. A community outreach meeting on the medical license is set for August 16 at 6 p.m. at the Embassy Suites.
