MARLBOROUGH — The Marlborough City Council approved a $4.05 million eminent domain land buy and $5.09 million funding package for a new west side fire station. Council President Michael H. Ossing presided as the council voted 10-0 on the 40 Locke Drive acquisition after Finance Committee Chair Councilor John J.
Irish reported the panel's 4-0 recommendation. The council also rewrote its Floodplain Protection District ordinance in a single evening, with Councilor Kathleen D. Robey pulling it out of Urban Affairs, saying "there's sort of a push at the state level to get this done sooner rather than later." Councilors raised the Public Safety Revolving Fund's spending cap to $182,672.35, accepted a $13,950 MEMA grant for Whitcomb School, and referred a Holbrook regional dispatch partnership to Finance Committee.
Two contested special permits, a Seven Brew drive-through coffee shop and a 36 Jefferson Street townhouse project, closed hearings without votes and head to Urban Affairs.
