Finance Committee approves $158,406 transfer for DPW union contract
MARLBOROUGH — August 25, 2025 — Marlborough Finance Committee unanimously approves $158,406 transfer to fund ratified DPW union contract. The 4-0 vote on order 25-109520 moves $158,406.42 from the fiscal 2025 reserve for salaries account into various line items to cover the new collective bargaining agreement with the Marlborough Public Works Equipment Operators Association. Mayor J. Christian Dumas, in a letter read at the meeting, thanked DPW Commissioner Ted Scott, Assistant Commissioner Chrystia Lafreniere and the union for "reaching a fair and equitable agreement." Councilor Vidal made the motion; Councilor Ohrenberger noted the reserve account still holds $842,517 even after this and two other recently ratified union deals, saying "we're within bounds." The committee also suspended the rules to fast-track the order, then adjourned at 7:12 p.m. after a three-minute meeting.
