Marlborough council accepts $2 million state grant for Cedar Hill Street roadway work

MARLBOROUGH — March 27, 2023 — Marlborough council accepts $2 million MassWorks grant and advances closely split 57 Main Street vote. The City Council voted 11-0 Monday to accept a $2 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant for Cedar Hill Street roadway improvements on a motion by Finance Committee chair John J. Irish, and heard a 3-2 Urban Affairs recommendation to approve JW Capital Partners' 57 Main Street mixed-use plan tied to a $520,000 payment-in-lieu of parking deposited into a new "City of Marlborough Downtown Parking Account." Urban Affairs chair Kathleen D. Robey and Vice President Sean A. Navin voted to recommend denial; Councilors Doucette, Landers and Wagner voted to approve. The council also opened the four-part public hearing on a special permit for the Trombetta Family Limited Partnership's existing landscape contractor yard at 655 Farm Road, with seven residents speaking in favor and none opposed, and approved raising the Public Safety Revolving Fund spending cap from $120,000 to $203,000.
