Marlborough council approves $1 million library overrun, reappoints city clerk

MARLBOROUGH — June 6, 2022 — Marlborough council clears $1 million library overrun and an 80-foot Verizon stealth pole in a 21-item night. The City Council voted 11-0 to transfer $1 million from undesignated funds to library building renovations, with Councilor John J. Irish reporting Library Commissioner Margaret Duval's assurance that "no surprises have been found" on the historic terracotta entrance work. Members also approved $1,735,807 in year-end transfers, a $219,982 Community Compact fiber grant, a $6,300 veterans-to-executive-secretary transfer, and a Cellco Partnership special permit for an 80-foot "Delorean gray" stealth monopole at 739-769 Donald J. Lynch Boulevard with 12 binding conditions. The council also reappointed City Clerk Stephen Kerrigan through May 2025 and granted National Grid easements at the Cedar Hill pump station after City Engineer Tom DiPersio told members the project was "literally" stalled awaiting them.
