Marlborough council approves comptroller contract, auto-sales permit at final 2025 meeting
MARLBOROUGH — December 15, 2025 — Marlborough City Council approves comptroller contract and auto-sales permit at final 2025 meeting. The council voted 10-1 to approve a new employment contract for Comptroller Treasurer Brian Doheny along with a $20,695 transfer from the assistant finance director line, with At-Large Councilor Kathleen D. Robey opposed. Robey said she could not back "a $20,000 increase for one person" mid-fiscal year. By 9-1-1, the council granted First Choice Auto a special permit for accessory automobile sales at 299 Maple St., capping on-site inventory at five vehicles for sale and 20 total; Ward 7 Councilor Matthew Sargent abstained. Members also endorsed a low-income community solar discount under the municipal aggregation plan 10-1, accepted a $7,000 Brigham Family Trust grant for a library "library of things," and honored outgoing Ward 4 Councilor Tiona Chen Brown.
