Marlborough council opens hearing on age-targeted condo overlay near Forest Street

MARLBOROUGH — June 21, 2021 — Marlborough opens zoning hearing on 120-unit age-targeted condo overlay off Forest Street. The Gutierrez Company, represented by Attorney Robert Buckley and Scott Weiss, asked the City Council for enabling zoning to allow elevated two-bedroom condominiums on a 10.6-acre parcel with an already-approved 21-lot single-family subdivision. Ward 3 Councilor Ramona Dumas warned of existing Glenn Street flooding and inadequate neighborhood notice, while At-Large Councilor Kathleen D. Robey challenged the draft text for incorporating uses from six residential districts into an A3-zoned site and questioned whether the project meets the workforce-housing intent of Housing Choice. The planning board issued a verbal negative recommendation. The council also ordained a fence-ordinance amendment 9-2, approved $2,411,912.77 in year-end DPW transfers, set a $500,000 cap on a new Water and Sewer Revolving Fund, and voted to send a letter opposing Keno-to-go monitors at Lakeside Shell and Marlborough Shell.
