Marlborough council refers 12-unit Lincoln Street housing plan to Urban Affairs

MARLBOROUGH — November 21, 2022 — Marlborough council sends 12-unit Lincoln Street housing plan to committee after church pushback. Attorney Terrence Morris and architect Ron Burke presented a three-story, 24-bedroom all-electric building at the rail trail terminus for 272 Lincoln Street LLC, with 18 of 24 parking spaces inside the building and a proposed corner pocket park. Members of Saints Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church opposed, with retired firefighter James Paul Cronis citing density risks and Nick Kofis warning, "I love the project. It looks great — but not there." Councilor David Doucette recused; the matter goes to Urban Affairs after site plan review. The council separately approved an EMC sign permit for the Starbucks drive-thru at 661 Boston Post Road East 11-0, accepted three state and MIIA grants totaling $112,505, and transferred $1,154,893.76 from meals tax revenue to fiscal 2023 parks bond payments.
