Marlborough council rejects committee push to deny East Main car wash permit

MARLBOROUGH — June 9, 2025 — Marlborough council rejects committee recommendation to deny East Main car wash. The City Council voted 5-4 Monday against an Urban Affairs recommendation to deny a special permit for Washville Car Wash at 223 East Main St., with a subsequent motion to reconsider also failing. Councilor Mark Oram cited "preventative safety" concerns about runoff icing on the downhill approach to a traffic signal, while Councilor Trey Fuccillo reversed his committee vote, saying the permit's five conditions gave the city enforcement tools and that the site has sat vacant since 2022. Separately, councilors approved a compromise license amendment 7-1-1
