Marlborough Names Peckham Assistant Fire Chief of Operations
MARLBOROUGH — Mayor J. Christian Dumais announced the promotion of Battalion Chief Michael Peckham to Assistant Fire Chief of Operations, filling the post left open by former Chief Gogan, according to a City Hall announcement. The city also posted an updated Community Choice Power Supply Program notice covering the period from August 2026 through January 2027.
TOWN HALL Mayor Dumais said in a City Hall release that he is "proud to announce" Peckham's promotion, elevating the battalion chief into the department's second-highest operations role. The announcement did not detail Peckham's tenure with the department or a start date for the new assignment.
Separately, the city posted a public notice on its updated Community Choice Power Supply Program, setting terms for enrolled residents' electricity supply from August 2026 through January 2027. City Hall did not publish specific rate figures in the notice.
The city also reminded residents that early voting hours for the Senate primary begin this week, and the Board of Health flagged a new round of targeted mosquito spraying after West Nile virus turned up again in local samples, continuing coverage the city has posted in recent days.
SCHOOLS Marlborough Public Schools has two committee sessions on tap this week. The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee and the full School Committee both meet Tuesday, Aug. 25, and the Richer Elementary School Building Committee convenes Thursday, Aug. 27, alongside a School Committee meet-and-greet the same evening, according to the city calendar.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Marlborough Public Library closes out its summer slate this week. Musical Monday wraps up its run Monday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m., followed by a Nature Embroidery session at 3 p.m. and Read to a Dog at 6 p.m. the same day. An English Conversation Circle meets Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. All programs are at the library's 35 W. Main St. location.
