Marlborough Personnel Committee unanimously endorses five mayoral appointments

MARLBOROUGH — February 18, 2021 — Marlborough committee advances five mayoral appointments, including a new chief procurement officer. The City Council Personnel Committee, chaired by Councilor Laura Wagner Dumas with members Donald Landers and Kathleen Doucette, voted 3-0 on each nomination Monday night. The panel reappointed James Griffin to the Board of Health, appointed funeral home owner Philip Short to a second Board of Health seat held by outgoing member Robin Williams, and named Westborough chief assessor Jonathan Steinberg to succeed Anthony Trodella on the Board of Assessors after more than 40 years. Hospitality manager and AMSA track coach Chanisa Sampson was appointed to Parks and Recreation. The committee also endorsed DPW engineering staffer Krista Holmes as chief procurement officer, replacing the retiring Beverly Sleeper; Mayor Arthur Vigeant said the office saves the city legal fees and lawsuits, while Holmes called the role "a collaboration … to ensure the public trust."
