Marlborough School Committee Approves FY25 Calendar, Extends Early College Program Through 2028
MARLBOROUGH -- March 12, 2024, Marlborough School Committee approves FY25 calendar and hears Early College extension to 2028. At the March 12 meeting, the committee unanimously approved the fiscal year 2025 school calendar and received word that Marlborough High School's state Early College designation, providing free college courses, credits, and materials to students, has been extended through the 2027-2028 school year, requiring no vote. BPA advisor Jane Haley reported that club members swept community service awards at the state competition, where 348 students competed, with club president Janelle Zapata taking first place in the Reality Fair community service event. Assistant Superintendent Ms. O'Brien announced Unified Sports is expanding to Whitcomb Middle School, where coach Mikaela Mahoney Da Silva is leading a 16-student unified basketball team with its first game set for March 15. The committee also heard that seniors Alexis Ott and Violet Wren will be honored at the Worcester County Superintendent's Association scholar luncheon at Holy Cross on March 21; Wren holds a 4.91 cumulative GPA and is ranked first in her class.
