Marlborough School Committee Approves $6,600 in Donations at Routine February Meeting

MARLBOROUGH — February 27, 2024 — Marlborough School Committee accepts two donations and hears busing, grant updates. The committee voted unanimously at its February 27 meeting to accept a $6,100 gift from Seeds Inc. and a $500 donation from the Kids in Need Foundation for a Richer school. Superintendent Mary Murphy reported the district has received grants exceeding $4 million for the current fiscal year, alongside more than $29,000 in cash contributions and over $11,000 in donated goods. Director of Finance and Operations Mr. LaFleur reported that busing contractor NRT has effectively lost four drivers — one resigned, one is on extended medical leave and not expected to return, and two routes have been without permanent drivers for an extended period — with four replacement drivers currently in training. January lunch participation reached 78 percent of students, a program record according to LaFleur. The committee's policy subcommittee, comprising members Earl, Dan, and a third unnamed colleague, is set to begin a district-wide policy cataloging effort in March ahead of a transition to a new school website.
