Marlboro School Committee approves amended high school Program of Studies

MARLBOROUGH — February 13, 2024 — Marlboro School Committee approves amended high school Program of Studies and resets FY25 budget calendar. Principal Dan Riley told members the catalog now offers 23 in-person AP courses and seven early college classes, with a 28 percent increase since 2018 in students taking at least one advanced course before graduation. The committee amended the document to fix an EMT-pathway typo, clarify Virtual High School scheduling, add a disclaimer that Quinsigamond Community College credits "don't automatically transfer" to private four-year schools, and signal the biology option for freshmen. Superintendent Mary Murphy reported an 86 percent drop in cell phone referrals at Whitcomb School since Yondr pouches were funded by a state DESE grant, but said she is "recommending that we not create a school committee policy at this time." Members also accepted a $55,000 homeless emergency support grant and a $62,700 math acceleration grant funding February and April vacation academies.
