Marlborough School Committee ratifies two three-year union contracts, refers residency policy to subcommittee

MARLBOROUGH — May 25, 2021 — Marlborough ratifies two three-year union deals and brings vaccines into the schools. The School Committee unanimously ratified contract extensions with SEIU Local 888 paraeducators and the Marlborough School Administrators Association, both running July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024, and accepted a $534.40 DonorsChoose gift to Whitcomb School. Superintendent Michael Bergeron said Marlborough Hospital and the Board of Health would run first-dose clinics the next day at Marlborough High and Whitcomb Middle, with more than 300 students expected; Chief Nursing Officer John Kelly's team agreed to "come to you" rather than shuttle students to the Marriott. Assistant Superintendent Doug Diaz presented a McKibben Demographic Research projection forecasting a 281-student, 6 percent enrollment rise before a 137-student decline by 2030-31, and Director Jody Cocci detailed two new ESSER II–funded elementary adjustment counselor positions at Richer and Goodnow.
