Marlborough School Committee to resume in-person meetings June 22

MARLBOROUGH — June 8, 2021 — Marlborough School Committee will return to in-person meetings June 22 as state remote-meeting authority expires. Mayor Arthur Vigeant, who chairs the committee, said Microsoft Teams access ends June 15 citywide and the committee will revert to pre-pandemic rules requiring the chair and a quorum to be physically present. "It's going back to the way it was," Vigeant said. Member Denise Ryan Hennessey, joining remotely from out of town, urged colleagues to preserve a remote option for emergencies, calling it "crazy" not to. Superintendent Michael Bergeron will return for a formal vote June 22 once it is clarified whether members on Teams could vote. The committee also ratified a three-year contract with the administrative office support association covering July 2021 through June 2024, approved roughly $45,000 in FY21 instructional-materials transfers, and heard that the district's in-house translation team produced nearly 3,300 translated documents in FY21, including 1,092 Spanish and 875 Portuguese IEPs.
