Urban Affairs Committee advances Adina Cafe drive-through at 420 Maple Street

MARLBOROUGH — February 19, 2025 — Marlborough's Urban Affairs Committee unanimously advanced a special-permit drive-through for Adina Cafe at 420 Maple St. The 4-0 vote on the Marlboro Maple Real Estate Trust application sends the draft decision to the city solicitor before a full council vote, after the committee fixed a typo setting cafe hours at 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. rather than 2 a.m. Police Chief David Giorgi wrote the applicant "was responsive to our suggestions" on traffic flow, while City Engineer Tom DiPersio confirmed the northern Maple Street driveway will be right-turn-only. Councilor Laura Wormald pushed back on the southern exit, citing crash history where merging Route 85 traffic meets stopping cars, and asked Site Plan Review to reconsider. Members also flagged a non-severability clause for the solicitor's rewrite.
