City Council approves assistant city clerk salary ordinance 11-0 in single sitting
MARLBOROUGH — May 25, 2023 — Marlborough City Council passes assistant city clerk salary ordinance 11-0 in two-minute sitting. At a special meeting called to order at 7 p.m. May 25, councilors took up a single item, Order 23-100-8877, amending City Code Chapter 125, Section 6 to revise the salary for the assistant city clerk. Ward 5 Councilor John J. Irish moved approval, and a transmittal letter from Council President Michael H. Ossing — which recommended the measure "be advertised and referred to the finance committee" for discussion during the fiscal 2024 budget — was read into the record. The council instead moved the ordinance through suspension of the first reading, enrollment, and ordination on three consecutive 11-0 votes, clearing the two-thirds threshold Ossing's letter flagged as required. The council adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
