Marlborough council refers 24-hour gas station, Chase ATM and MBTA zoning to committee

MARLBOROUGH — June 5, 2023 — Marlborough council sends 24-hour gas station, Chase ATM and MBTA housing zoning to Urban Affairs. Attorney James Hall, general counsel for Colbea Enterprises, told councilors the Seasons Corner Market Shell station at 342 Boston Post Road East draws 70 to 100 overnight customers per eight-hour period and that Police Chief David Giorgi does not oppose 24-hour operation. Councilor Laura Wagner said abutting residents were objecting "quite loudly" amid Route 20 construction, and Urban Affairs Chair Kathleen Robey noted prior 24-hour operation at the site lacked a valid city permit. The council voted 11-0 to transfer $600,500 from reserve for salaries to fund the firefighters' contract, approved 10 mayoral reappointments on a rules suspension, and postponed Mayor Arthur Vigeant's $188,751,024 fiscal 2024 operating budget — a 4.57 percent increase — to a June 12 special meeting before entering executive session on JW Capital Partners v. City of Marlborough.
