Public Services Committee · Meeting of August 10, 2026
MARLBOROUGH — The Marlborough Public Services Committee approved a junk dealer and secondhand license for a gold-buying business in a seven-minute session. The committee voted 3-0 to back the license for Paolo Dumont's operation, referenced in meeting records as Amigold Financial, LLC, at 257 Simarano Drive, where Dumont said jewelry would be bought and melted "for the weight value of the gold itself." Dumont, a 30-year jewelry industry veteran, described X-ray gold testing, a seller ownership attestation, an alarm system and a planned vault as fraud and security safeguards. Police Chief David Georgie's August 6 letter cleared both Dumont and a second applicant, taxi license seeker Niriande Girard, of any objections, but Girard's application for Niriande's Private Transportation, LLC did not appear to reach a vote before the committee adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
Councilors Irish, Doucette and Vidal each questioned Dumont before the unanimous vote.
