Public Services Committee splits on two Marlborough junk dealer license renewals

MARLBOROUGH — June 2, 2025 — Marlborough Public Services Committee splits two junk dealer renewals, withholds recommendation on Dumas & Sons. Meeting with two of three members present on June 2, the committee voted 2-0 to renew the junk dealer and second-hand dealer license for Roman Kimiogarov of Arthur & Son Shoe Repair at 107 Main St., after Councilor Irish praised the downtown shop's repair work. Police Chief David Georgie wrote that he had "no issues" with either renewal. But Irish declined to support the renewal for Gerald Dumas of Dumas & Sons Second-Hand Store at 65 Mechanic St., citing abutter concerns that materials were being stored on other parcels Dumas owns. Dumas, who said the Mechanic Street store has been effectively closed for over a decade, told the committee, "I've been in this town a long time." The application was referred to the full City Council without a recommendation.
