Marlboro School Committee approves new first-grade teacher at Kane Elementary

MARLBOROUGH — June 14, 2022 — Marlboro School Committee approves new Kane first-grade teacher and Reynolds course naming. Superintendent Michael Bergeron won unanimous approval Tuesday to post an additional 1.0 FTE first-grade teaching position at Kane Elementary, drawing roughly $69,602 from a $208,000 FY23 salary reserve once the budget loads into Munis this fall. Bergeron also floated opening five intra-district school choice seats each in kindergarten and first grade for Goodnow families willing to send children to Richer, where projected sections sit at 17-18 students compared with about 21 at Goodnow; Member Denise Matthews flagged the word "permanently" in the draft, and the policy subcommittee will revisit Policy 8.090 on June 16. Members also voted unanimously to name the rebuilt high school ropes course the Marlboro Public Schools Kenneth Reynolds Adventure Course, honoring the 1998 teacher of the year, and accepted approximately $1,200 in picnic tables built for Richer Elementary by Eagle Scout candidate Jackson Clemens.
