Marlborough City Council approves $16.35 million in bonds across five votes
MARLBOROUGH — July 21, 2025 — Marlborough City Council approves $16.35 million in bonds and confirms a new principal assessor. The council voted 10-0 on a $9.65 million capital improvement bond, plus utility bonds of $3.5 million for pumping stations, $1.4 million for sewers and $1 million for water mains, all recommended by Finance Committee Chair John J. Irish. An $800,000 bond for the Bigelow School roof passed 9-1, with Ward 1 Councilor Mark A. Vital opposed. Councilors also confirmed Patrick Greenhall, current chair of Springfield's Board of Assessors, as principal assessor at step five with an extra week's vacation; Vice-President Sean A. Navin said vetting calls returned consistent praise for his accessibility. Ferris Development Group opened a public hearing on Glenford at Lake Williams, a 187-unit, three-building condominium project at 130 Lazotte Drive that COO Brian Charville said would be worth "at least $75 million" and yield more than $1.25 million in new annual tax revenue.
