Marlborough City Council doubles Executive Residential housing cap to 950 units

MARLBOROUGH — June 26, 2023 — Marlborough doubles Executive Residential housing cap to 950 units in single-night vote. The City Council voted 9-1 on June 26 to amend Chapter 650 Section 36, raising the multi-family dwelling cap from 475 to 950 and adding mixed-use development, on a suspension of the rules sought by Urban Affairs Chair Kathleen Robey for Apartment Partners LLC. Councilor Mark Oram said he had initially thought "going a hundred percent might be too much" but supported the change after reviewing the Planning Board's favorable recommendation. The council separately approved a $1,598,076.10 capital transfer from free cash, including $701,000 for DPW vehicles, $380,000 for IT firewall replacement, and $325,076.10 for three police cruisers, 31 bulletproof vests and 60 tasers. A Retirement Board cost-of-living base increase from $12,000 to $13,000 passed 10-0.
