Marlborough council advances 276-unit Wood Partners project to final vote

MARLBOROUGH — June 27, 2022 — Marlborough council sends 276-unit Wood Partners permit to solicitor on 8-1 vote. The City Council on June 27 voted to refer the final draft special permit for Alta Marlborough LLC's mixed-use project at Lincoln and Mechanic streets — 276 units, 10,074 square feet of commercial space and a 448-space garage — to the city solicitor for legal drafting ahead of a July 25 vote. At-Large Councilor Mark A. Oram cast the lone "no," saying he had not yet seen the peer-reviewed traffic impact assessment he requested and that "we're moving a little too fast." The Urban Affairs and Housing Committee had recommended approval 5-0 with amended conditions, including all-electric utilities, a green roof, a rail-trail public-amenity restroom and outside transportation peer review at site plan review. The council also accepted a quarterly aggregation report showing more than $1.097 million in first-quarter savings to Inspire participants, authorized electronic poll books for the Sept. 6 primary, and signed on to Mayor Arthur Vigeant's letter pressing the Legislature to appropriate remaining ARPA funds before July 31.
