Marlborough council approves two DISH Wireless rooftop antenna permits

MARLBOROUGH — September 9, 2024 — Marlborough City Council clears DISH Wireless rooftops at hospital and Boston Post Road East. Councilors suspended the rules Monday to approve both special permits the same night the Public Service Committee recommended them, voting 11-0 on the 450 Boston Post Road East site and 10-0 on the 157 Union Street site, with At-Large Councilor Kathleen D. Robey recused. Each permit covers three antennas and related equipment and carries seven standard conditions. "Sprint is no longer in business," Councilor Laura Landers told colleagues, explaining DISH is taking over the former Sprint rooftop infrastructure. The council also accepted an $816.74 MassDOT grant for a Senior Center minibus backup camera and sent a $1 million pools-and-splash-pads bond order back to Finance.
