Marlborough council names eight veterans squares and Gold Star Families Plaza

MARLBOROUGH — March 24, 2025 — Marlborough council unanimously names eight veterans squares and dedicates Gold Star Families Plaza behind City Hall. The 10-0 vote March 24 honored Philip David Berder, Clarence Hinkson, Amaday Liqueur, Mark Joseph Centolo, Charles Demeter Cosma, Alfred Desmarais, Arthur Charles Beaucelle and David H. Bishop, chosen from a master list maintained by the Marlborough Veterans Council. Vice President Sean A. Navin, presenting the Veterans Affairs Committee report, also delivered the quarterly municipal aggregation update: residential participants saved more than $404,000 in the fourth quarter of 2024, more than $2.6 million in calendar 2024 and nearly $40 million since 2007 under the First Point Power contract at just over 14 cents per kilowatt hour. The council also closed a public hearing on Green Meadows Farm's bid to add medical marijuana sales at 239 Boston Post Road West, where CEO Chris Zawacki said medical patients make up 12 to 15 percent of business at the company's other dispensaries and veterans 9 percent, and approved a $626,812.24 PEG transfer to fund WMCT-TV for fiscal 2026.
