Marlborough council sends Campus at Marlboro plan back to Urban Affairs, 9-2

MARLBOROUGH — December 20, 2021 — Marlborough council punts Campus at Marlboro to Urban Affairs in 9-2 vote at session's final meeting. Members accepted a letter from attorney Peter Tam, writing for Great Land Realty Partners, asking that the master concept plan and development agreement return to committee to address phasing concerns. Councilor Don Landers, citing Urban Affairs' prior 5-0 vote to release the plan, opposed the referral, asking, "Are we going to let a lawyer tell us what to do?" Ward 6 Councilor Laura Dumas, Ward 2 Councilor David Doucette and Vice-President Sean A. Navin said the developer needed to be in the televised room for any phasing renegotiation. The same meeting unanimously accepted $3,511,279 in CARES Act reimbursement and $7,835,814 in ARPA funds, and stood up a new West Side Fire Station Stabilization Account with a $1,422,500 transfer drawn from Greens District housing payments. Mayor Arthur Vigeant reported 204 active COVID-19 cases and a 5.69 percent positivity rate.
