Marlborough Finance Committee unanimously advances $10.27 million road bond

MARLBOROUGH — January 30, 2023 — Marlborough Finance Committee unanimously advances $10.27M infrastructure bond and WMCT-TV bridge transfer. The committee voted 5-0 on a capital bond package from Mayor Arthur Vigeant covering $8.77 million for streets and infrastructure, $1 million for water and $500,000 for sewer work, and recommended the City Council suspend its rules to expedite bid advertising. Streets named include Spring, Hayes Memorial Drive, Liberty, Witherbee, Francis, Cedar Hill and a Main Street overlay tied to a $3 million MassWorks grant against a roughly $4.3 million scope. Members also approved a $100,000 PEG transfer to the Marlboro Cable Trust to keep WMCT-TV's annual revenue under the $500,000 audit threshold, a step Vigeant said avoids $5,000 to $7,000 in audit costs. Executive Director Ryan Mila said the studio now hosts 13 regular shows, up from near-zero a year ago; Councilor Samantha Perlman called the station "priceless."
