Marlborough School Committee advances four superintendent finalists, ratifies four union deals

MARLBOROUGH — April 12, 2022 — Marlborough advances four superintendent finalists and ratifies four union contracts. Superintendent Search Committee Chair Mrs. Ryan told the School Committee her panel screened 23 applications and interviewed nine candidates before unanimously forwarding Michael Baldazzari of Woburn, Marlborough Assistant Superintendent Mary Murphy, Nan Skiff Murphy of Marblehead and Dr. Timothy Sipple of Worcester. Ryan acknowledged some finalists are in play in other districts, with public interview days set for April 27 and May 2. The committee also ratified a three-year MOU with AFSCME Local 1709 custodians through June 2025, an SEIU Local 888 behavior technicians extension through June 2024, and one-time-payment agreements with the Marlborough Educators Association and the School Administrators Association. Members accepted seven new MHS scholarships, including a $50,000 annual award from the Ianni family and $1,000 annually from the Luftig family.
