Marlborough School Committee votes full return for grades 6-12 on April 27

MARLBOROUGH -- April 13, 2021, Marlborough returns grades 6-12 to full in-person classes April 27 on flat $66.65M budget. The School Committee unanimously approved Superintendent Michael Bergeron's plan to bring all secondary hybrid students back on April 27, with April 26 designated districtwide as a remote prep day. Students will sit at three feet edge-of-seat; faculty remain at six. Class sizes will average 22 to 23 at Whitcomb and Marlborough High School, with the MHS day extended about 10 minutes and the 1:15 to 2 p.m. period staying remote. "This is a step, but it's not a return to normal," Bergeron said. Members also voted to post a public hearing on a $66,654,566 FY22 budget, a zero-percent increase, and accepted a $68,045 MassTesol Title III grant and a $35,600 1A Foundation grant for Whitcomb science.
